As Labor Day passes and leaves start to fall, now would be a good time to mention the Litchfield Park Historical Society Museum (soon to be P.W Litchfield Heritage Center) is once again open during its regular hours.
The LPHSM is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the history of the southwest valley. They are currently located on the NW corner of Litchfield Rd and Camelback and the museum is free to the public. They hold enrichment classes, speaker events, and fundraising events throughout the year. Be sure to sign up on their website to receive email notices for all of their upcoming exhibits and events.
Did you know they are fundraising to move to a larger space? Once funds are raised they will move into a re-purposed historic building on Litchfield Hill. They will expand from 1000 sq ft to over 10,000 sq ft. The new Heritage Center will be home to a new museum, library, meeting rooms, and private event space. Rental spaces can be used for weddings, family events, etc. The 21-acre parcel will have rose and cactus gardens, feature local artist events, a patio balcony, and a terrace. Overall, a fantastic space for the SW valley. If you head down to the museum you can take a look at the plans that are outlined.
As mentioned, they are currently raising funds to bring this space to fruition. How can we help? There are several ways…through memberships (starting at $25/person), donations, naming opportunities at the new center, and of course attending all of their events such as the Litchfield Park Historic Home Tour, their annual Ride & Seek events, and many more. Their next event coming up is the Las Posadas Event on December 17th at 5:30 pm.
Museum Hours: Wednesday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. & First Saturday of the Month from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
